💠Founder Chairman & Managing Director of Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centers in Kerala

His contributions…

🔸Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev was born in a small village called Mudavanmugal in the Trivandrum District of Kerala.

🔸His father, Shri. P. Kesavadev was a renowned novelist and social reformer. He is also a Kendra Sahitya Academy Awardee, and he is celebrated as a maker of modern Kerala and modern Malayalam literature. His mother, Srimathi Seethalekshmi Dev, is also a novelist.

🔸In fact, Jothydev had meritorious school days at Trivandrum. He was highly inspired by his father’s literacy skills and social activities.

🔸After schooling, he studied medicine at the Government Medical College, Trivandrum and completed his MBBS course in 1989. He further completed his MD in Internal Medicine in 1996 in the same institute.

🔸During his college days, he was very dynamic and founded the Medical Brothers Society, which is an organization for medical students exclusively to connect for social, cultural, and scientific activities.

🔸His society succeeded in the war against selling tobacco products in the medical college and hospital campuses.

🔸After his studies, he continued as a Lecturer in Internal Medicine at his alma mater. Later, he became an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2001, where his lectures and bedside teaching skills inspired most students. In 1997, he also started his private practice at his home town Mudavanmugal.

🔸As a man of innovation, he involved himself in the new Digitalization era and learned many software skills. He was the first in India to introduce the telemedicine concept of patient follow-up via unique software, the Diabetes Tele Management System (DTMS), in 1998.

🔸To extend his scientific knowledge, he worked abroad for some years. He trained in Geriatrics at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, New York, and did his Research Fellowship in Endocrinology at World famous Mayo Clinic in the United States.

🔸In 2006, Dr. Jothydev established his center Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre (JDC) at Mudavanmugal, Trivandrum, and became its Founder Chairman.

🔸His center is accredited by International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and has gained state-of-the-art excellence in diabetes care and public health education.

🔸To reach more patients, Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre extended the service to Kochi in 2011, Attingal in 2018, and Haripad in 2022.

🔸Through his center, he extensively researched diabetology and became a pioneer and leader in introducing advanced and innovative medical technologies to prevent and treat diabetes in India. Some of them are:

🔅Insulin Pump Therapy since 2004

🔅Continuous Glucose Monitoring since 2005

🔅Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion System

🔅Smart Insulin Pens

🔅Painless Lancing Devices

🔅Artificial Pancreas /Automated Insulin Delivery

🔸Further, Dr. Jothydev has published more than 144 research articles and contributed more than 50 chapters in various Textbooks on Diabetes.

🔸Furthermore, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Diabetes and Technology, a peer-reviewed journal from Wolters Kluwer (a Global leader in advanced technologies), and reviewer of more than a dozen scientific journals, including Diabetes Care, Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics, and Diabetes Science & Technology.

🔸Indeed, he was the First speaker from Kerala to represent at American Diabetes Association (ADA), the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), and Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) Europe.

🔸Also, he has been the Chief organizer of one of the largest International Diabetes Conventions in India for 10 years – “JPEF (Jothydev’s Professional Education Forum).”

🔸Moreover, Dr. Jothydev contributes extensively to Charity through the P. Kesavadev Trust (2001), started in fond memory of his father, the late Shri P. Kesavadev.

🔸Additionally, Dr. Jothydev is serving as a Managing Trustee, and the trust is passionately involved in uplifting Malayalam literary activities and charitable activities across the state of Kerala, supporting elderly patients and patients with diabetes in the weaker economic section.

🔸With the support of his trust, he organized a mega project of Diabscreen Kerala with 650 free screening and educational events to create diabetes awareness across Kerala through medical camps.

🔸Dr. Jothydev is undoubtedly a visionary who has trained many doctors at his center through academic courses like RSSDI-accredited Advanced Certificate Courses in Diabetology.

🔸He has been conferred with 7 Fellowships from reputed institutions and societies, including:

🔅Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2015

🔅Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London in 2016

🔸Dr. Jothydev is certainly working hard to reinforce the message – “Diabetes awareness should start from the primary care centers, and the primary care physicians should encourage using medical technologies, which are proven to be cost-effective in preventing the costly complications of diabetes.”
