💠Indian Diabetologist

🔸Dr. Banshi Saboo was born in a small village named Kuchaman in Rajasthan.

🔸He studied MBBS and MD (Internal Medicine) at the B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad.

🔸He also did a Ph.D. in Phenotyping and Genotyping of young Diabetic in India from Gujarat University.

🔸In 1998, he began his practice at Ambawadi, Ahmedabad. His center Diacare-Diabetes care and hormone clinic is a well-known comprehensive tertiary diabetes care center. The center is an IDF-recognized, nodal center from Changing Diabetes in Children and Life for a Child.

🔸He has various contributions to diabetes and research. A few of his significant research include- Obesity in School-going Children in India, ICMR INDIAB Study, and the Indian Heart Watch Study.

🔸Also, he is the Managing Editor of the *Sadikot’s International Textbook of Diabetology, Diabetes & metabolic syndrome, clinical research, and Reviews.

🔸Over the years, he has published over 360 papers in indexed journals and contributed many chapters in various textbooks and monograms.

🔸He holds the editorial positions for the Journal of the Association of Physicians of India (JAPI), the Journal of Clinical Diabetology, the International Journal of Diabetes in developing countries, the Journal of Diabetology and Journal of Obesity & Metabolic Research (JOMR).

🔸He has held various prestigious positions in different academic forums such as:

  • Currently, he is the Chair-Elect of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), South East Asia (2023-24).
  • Honorary Secretary of Diabetes India (since 2012).
  • Honorary Vice President of Diabetes in Asia Study Group (2022 to present).
  • President of the Indian Obesity Society (2016-20).
  • President of Research Society for Study of Diabetes India (RSSDI), (2019-20).
  • Founder of a Non-Governmental Organization Diabetes Care India.
  • He is the hub leader for Sweet Registry.

🔸Indeed, his public awareness projects under various forums are well appreciated. Some of his projects are:

🔅 *Diabetes Free India-2030, with an aim that children born after 2030 should be diabetes free. This project is acknowledged by the Honourable President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee.

🔅 Defect Diabetes Campaign under RSSDI.

🔅 KADAM (Knowledge Based Diabetes Awareness Movement).

🔅 IDEA (Intensive Diabetes Education and Awareness) to stop Heart attack.

🔸He is known for his organizing skills – he has organized many National and International conferences. To name a few:

  • 37th Annual Conference of RSSDI 2009, in Ahmedabad
  • International Diabetes Federation, South East Asia Region Conference, 2014, in Mauritius
  • Annual Conference of Association of Physicians of India, 2011 & 2023 in Ahmedabad.
  • International society of adolescent and pediatric diabetes (2018)

🔅Fellowship of American College of Endocrinology (USA).

🔅Fellowship of American College of Physicians (USA).

🔅Fellowship of the International College of Nutrition (FICN).

🔅Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians (Glasgow, Edinburgh, London) and MNAMS (Diabetology).

🔅Shrimad Jesingbapa Sadguru Rotating Lectureship Trophy of Association of Physicians of Gujarat in 2006.

🔸Dr. Banshi Saboo is the most vibrant and dynamic physician cum diabetologist and an academic researcher living with the principle of giving back:
