Early Life and Education

🔹Prof. Dr. Sarita was born in Delhi to a father from Hoshiarpur (Punjab) and a mother who immigrated from Lahore (Pakistan).
🔹She studied Medicine at Moti Lal Nehru Medical College (MLNMC), Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and completed her MBBS course in 1977. She then pursued her MD (Internal Medicine) at her alma mater from 1979-1981.
🔹Initially, she wanted to be a pediatrician but was convinced to join medicine by a senior colleague who inspired her later to join the DM program as well.

Career

🔹Prof. Dr. Sarita completed her DM in Endocrinology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi in 1993. She began her career as a Lecturer of Medicine at MLN Medical College, Allahabad, and went on to become Director-Professor & Head of Medicine Department in 2010. She headed the department for a decade.
🔹Her passion for teaching and research led her to publish over 250 manuscripts in in peer reviewed journals, monographs and textbooks on diabetes and endocrinology.
